.וָאַלְבִּישֵׁךְ רִקְמה,... וַאֲכַסֵּךְ מֶשִׁי
I clothed thee with richly embroidered work...and covered thee with silk. (Ezekiel 16:10)
Isaiah, when entering the Presence of the Divine, was overcome with the beauty of cloth that filled the sanctuary. I've always had a sensibility to beauty, and also conscious of the beauty in the 'imperfect'. A devotee of both the ethos and aesthetic of William Morris, I live surrounded by the beauty of craft, be it a tallit, the walls in my study, or a dish of fennel braised with grappa, thyme and oranges. I have been privileged to work with many of my students to create meaningful and beautiful prayer shawls, reflective of their journeys and taste, as well as to provide ritual fabrications for a number of synagogues. Please enjoy this selection of my work, and be in touch if you would like to co-create a special item for your ritual use.
