You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your G!d (Leviticus 19:34).

From the beginning of my rabbinate, I have been involved in interfaith dialog, gathering radical Christian ministers to study texts with me, participating in a round-robin study with a UCC minister and a Wiccan priestess, welcoming and celebrating the marriage of interfaith couples, creating youth programs through the Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County, bringing food to the homeless in partnership with churches who housed them overnight, and finding links of commonality with our Muslim sisters and brothers.

Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem

I currently sit on the board of the Silicon Valley Intereligious Council, and am part of a long term group of rabbis and Presbyterian ministers who discuss issues of justice for Palestinians and Israelis. I believe that the Garden of Eden is much like the Parliament of World religions gatherings - where people come in love to work together, and strangers feed you and hug you because you are part of the Divinity of all.
